Dr. Jeff Kuhn directs the UH Institute for Astronomy (IfA) on Maui, and is the recipient of more than two-dozen grants from the National Science Foundation and NASA. Convinced that Maui is the best place on Earth to study the sun and develop new solar technologies, Dr. Kuhn has worked tirelessly to establish one of the most advanced optical-instrumentation laboratories in the Pacific. His efforts will soon bring to the island the world’s most powerful (and expensive) optical instrument: the Advanced Technology Solar Telescope.
