Lani Medina Weigert & Pomai Weigert – Lessons of Sustainable Aloha

Lani Medina Weigert & Pomai Weigert are a mother-daughter team and creative force on Maui.

As co-owner of Ali’i Kula Lavender Farm and a native Hawaiian, Lani Medina Weigert created a unique business model grounded in aloha and based on her 30 years in hospitality marketing. With her business partner, the late Ali’i Chang, Weigert created the premier agritourism venue in Hawai’i, attracting more than 150,000 visitors a year.

Pomai Weigert is the marketing and community relations coordinator for Ali’i Kula Lavender, a multigenerational, family-owned, native Hawaiian agritourism business in Hawai’i. Weigert is a master at bridging generational and cultural gaps, creating new niche markets, and passionately bringing her company into the “high tech” 21st century without losing its “high touch” authenticity.

Recorded at TEDxMaui 2012, held on January 22, 2012 at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center.
